Director James Cameron was in the audience at Billie Eilish’s 2025 Manchester concerts, and he wasn’t just there enjoying the music. The duo is gearing up to release a 3-D film experience—titled Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)—together, which was filmed throughout her four nights of hitting the stage in the U.K.

Here’s everything we know about the experimental concert film so far.

What is Billie Eilish and James Cameron’s 3-D film about?

The film was recorded during Eilish’s Manchester concerts from Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, which she launched for her third studio album. On July 19, 2025, she told the excited audience, “So, you may have noticed there’s more cameras than usual up here. Basically, I can’t say much about it, but what I can say is I’m working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron, and it’s going to be in 3D.” The concert movie was also filmed across her three additional concerts in Manchester on July 20, 22, and 23 of that year.

Eilish continued, “So, take that as you will, and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me, are part of a thing that I’m making with James.”

When will the 3-D concert film be released?

The movie will be shown in Dolby Cinema, Real 3D, and premium large format theaters on May 8, 2026. The film will also have early access screenings starting on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 P.M. local time.

Are tickets available for purchase?

Yes. Fans can purchase tickets to early access and regular release screenings here.

How did Eilish and Cameron start working together?

In an April 2026 Rolling Stone feature, Cameron revealed that it took Eilish a while to be fully sold on the filming process.

“We had a long creative meeting. It was very collaborative, always pushing her for certain things that were outside of her comfort zone, for sure,” the director told the outlet. When Cameron asked Eilish to place the camera onstage, she said, “Absolutely no. Don’t want to change the show.” Cameron noted it took him six months “to convince her that intimacy is so much more powerful in 3D.”

But once the pair was able to see eye to eye, it became a true partnership. “He really treated me like his equal,” she told Rolling Stone. “Just love the idea of people who didn’t get to see the show getting to experience it like they were there…The goal of shooting this movie is to really capture this incredible bond that I share.”

“It’s an emotional connection, and it’s real,” Cameron added. “She’s such a world class performer.”

When did Eilish complete her tour?

Thetour started in October 2024 and concluded in November 2025. The European leg of the tour ended in July of 2025 and continued in Japan in August 2025. She returned to the United States in October and finished up the tour run in California on Nov. 23, 2025.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! The trailer arrived on Dec. 10, 2025 and features footage from the concert film experience, which will no doubt look even more impressive in 3-D.

On April 24, Eilish also released “INTRO (HIT ME HARD AND SOFT TOUR),” a track from the concert film to further drum up fan anticipation ahead of the movie’s release.
